Mary Anne Barkhouse graduated from the Ontario College of Art. She is a multi-disciplinary artist working in sculpture, photography and jewelry, examining environmental concerns and aboriginal culture. A member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Barkhouse's work is in the collections of the Canada Council for Arts - Art Bank, University of British Columbia Museum of Anthropology, Banff Centre for the Arts and the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs. In addition, Barkhouse has various public art installations at Thunder Bay Art Gallery, McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, Ontario and the Millennium Walkway in Peterborough, Ontario. Upcoming exhibitions include a solo show, Dreaming Earth and Sky, at the Odd Gallery, Dawson City, Yukon (May 2004) and a group exhibition at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC (September 2004). Barkhouse is currently working in collaboration with Michael Belmore and Fastwurms on a new public art commission for the University of Western Ontario. Barkhouse belongs to the Nimpkish band, Kwagiutl First Nation.
