    UPDATE: June 26 2020
We're so grateful to all the artists who reached out for a studio visit over the past three months! We are now shifting our focus towards re-opening and upcoming programming, and so we're sad to say that we don't have the capacity to continue studio visits at this time.  Effective immediately we will no longer be making new appointments for visits, but we do hope to continue seeing your work and ideas through our Call for Submissions. Thank you for welcoming us (virtually) into your studios!

    Original post:
As part of Gallery 101's commitment to the professional development of artists and curators, and because we miss you all, Gallery 101 is happy to now offer free virtual studio check-in visits with our Director/Curator Laura Margita.

Laura has been G101's Director/Curator since 2012, and has over 20 years' experience in the arts and artist-run-centres. Before coming to G101, Laura founded Ottawa’s Enriched Bread Artist co-op, and throughout the years has held leadership roles at the University of Ottawa’s Visual Art Department, SAW Gallery, the Ottawa School of Art, PAVED Arts in Saskatoon, the Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA), and Artist-Run-Centre Collectives Conference (ARCA).

Studio check-ins are open to all Canada-based curators and artists interested in exhibiting with, or learning more about artist-run-centres. This opportunity for feedback is open to visual arts practitioners of all mediums, including digital and performance artists, at all stages of their careers - students and those creating outside established art institutions are welcome!  This is also a great time to ask any questions about our current call for submissions.

Calls will take place over Skype or Jitsi Meet (no software to install) and can be scheduled with Laura on weekdays (except Thursday) ideally between 11 AM and 3PM EST (we may be able to accommodate other times). There is no charge or application process, and we plan to continue check-ins as long as we have the capacity to provide them.
