Daily News includes works from two series, Coverage (1995-96) and A Day in the Life (1997-98). Both bodies of work force the coalescence of photographic image with three-dimensional form, and the intermixing of domestic with public realms. Large colour photographs use television news images projected over a re-created living room. The sculptures and wall reliefs are constructed from photographic prints or public events documented by the news media. The objects evoke domestic activities, while the images imbue them with a contrasting layer of meaning. These works juxtapose the flow of public news events with the concurrent experiences of domestic life, pointing to basic domestic tasks, while glimpsing at the great chasm that exists between the specifics of individuals’ lived experience.
