Away At My Cottage details a bird’s eye view of the artist’s refuge for five weeks each year. Caroline Joanisse has a studio at her cottage and this wild space is her idea of heaven. Strong colours, a thick layering of paint, and a keen eye for detail place value in the stability provided by an annual return to this retreat. Joanisse imagines the cottage from high above and layers this vision with her intimate knowledge of the surfaces and colours of her vacation home.
