Jessica Xiomara Orellana Ventura is a journalist from El Salvador. She graduated with a journalism degree from the Universidad de El Salvador and has over 13 years of experience in photojournalism. Jessica’s work focuses on environmental issues, gender, childhood, violence, health, education, historical memory and others. She currently works for the newspaper Diario de Hoy. She has collaborated with international news agencies such as the Thomson Reuters Agency, DPA, El País, BBC and magazines such as Foreign Policy.

Jessica is also co-founder of the Imprudencia collective, the first Salvadorian collective of women photographers. Jessica’s work has won her scholarships from Agency VII, Fundación Gabo, Fundación Latitudes, International Women´s Media Fundation (IWMF), Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), Consorcio para Apoyar al Periodismo Independiente en la Región (CAPIR), Escuela Fuera de Foco, NATIVE Agency and FOROCAP. She has received financial support for courses aimed at journalists working in hostile environments from Riesgo Cruzado, IWMF and REUTERS.
