Marianne Nicolson received an MA in Linguistics and Anthropology, 2005 and an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Victoria, 1999. Nicolson has received awards from the Smithsonian Artist Fellowship, The Eiteljorg Fellowship, the Vancouver Foundation Visual Arts Award, the National Aboriginal Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts and British Columbia Arts Council. Nicolson is a member of the Dzawada’enuxw Tribe of the Kwakwaka'wakw First Nation.
