• Circles and Letters In The Air, 2014
Painting,
paper,
circle,
washes,
brush,
we talk,
circle and letters in the air.
Megan Donovan picked a daunting task for this painting: she is painting the air.
Unlike J.M.W. Turner's landscape paintings, her atmosphere is graphic rather than sublime while still managing to show us the mystery of water and rock. Donovan describes the rocks as part of a whole, similar to how puddles and oceans are both water. Air then comes along and fits itself in while enduring as a separate form, bubbling up through water or expanding and contracting between the fissures of rock in cold and heat.
