Birds and Alligator Cake With Alligator Cake Shape, 2014 • The Mother Duck Is Catching The Fish, 2014 • Two Birds Riding On An Alligator, 2014 • Meet Me At The Ski Hill, 2014
Mike and mom bird and my sister bird are sitting on dad the alligator and he kept trying to bite my sister. My mom bird tells my dad alligator to stop trying to eat my sister bird. He couldn’t make himself stop so my mother bird started to sing the alligator song to make the alligator go to sleep. And he slept a thousand years.
Mike Hinchcliff loves the Museum of Nature and he is deeply inspired by the cycle of life. He has created stories about the relationship between animals as they live side by side, struggling to survive. In Two Birds Riding On An Alligator, the birds are eating from a buffet of bugs on top of an alligator while their baby is being eaten by that same alligator! Hinchcliff says it will be quite a surprise to them. This is a colourful and calm version of a grisly tale. He has been a practicing artist for his whole life and would like to live in a symbiotic relationship with the contemporary art world.
