I was born in Royal Leamington Spa England, after my parents emigrated from India in 1959. Later we moved to California and Kansas in the United States before settling in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1968. At eighteen I went to university in Ottawa and then studied and practiced art in Toronto before returning to Ottawa. My interdisciplinary art practice, explores identity and belonging in contemporary society. Inspired by my immigrant history and interested in issues of race and gender, I re-imagine and represent personal/ historical/ fictional narratives to q estion ‘how we now?’ and ‘how we know ourselves and others?’
