Gallery 101 is pleased to host:
Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Saturday March 11th, 11am to 4pm
In honour of International Women’s Day and as an outreach program for Laura Taler's solo exhibition (http://www.g101.ca/exhibits/soft-and-pliable-will-defeat-hard-and-strong) join us at Gallery 101 for an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. People of all gender identities and expressions welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Special guests: Jean- Philippe Béland (Wikimedia Canada Representative) and Rosa-Iris Rovira (Expert Wikipedia editor).
About:
The Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is a response to the gender gap in content and participation on Wikipedia. It’s estimated that only 10 per cent of Wikipedia editors identify as female.
Annual Art + Feminism (http://www.artandfeminism.org/) events around the world are addressing these gaps by inviting women and participants of all gender identities and expressions to gather for an all-day, communal updating of Wikipedia entries on art and feminism.
Throughout the day, we will provide trainings for the beginner Wikipedian (training schedules TBA), reference materials, childcare (by a Registered Early Childhood Educator) and refreshments.
You can share your thoughts on social media using the hashtags:#G101ottawa #ArtAndFeminism #NowEditingAF
