1) a poetry reading for Dennis Tourbin;
2) the launch of a new chapbook of Tourbin’s poetry; and
3) the launch of Gallery 101’s Twice Lightning International Radio Series SoundCloud project Monday, 10 March, 2014 7:00 pm Carleton University Art Gallery

This evening is held in conjunction with the exhibition Dennis Tourbin: The Language of Visual Poetry, curated by Marcie Bronson and organized and circulated by Rodman Hall Art Centre / Brock University.
1) Poetry reading for Dennis Tourbin Hosted by Michael Dennis, the reading features rob mclennan (Ottawa), Catherine Jenkins (Toronto), and Michael Dennis (Ottawa) reading from Dennis Tourbin’s work, and from their own work.A longtime friend of Dennis Tourbin, the poet Michael Dennis published his first book, Quarter on Its Edge, in 1979. His 25th title, Blues Music for Blues Players or Songs for the Eternally Sad, is forthcoming from Vancouver’s Pooka Press. He writes a poetry blog every other day that can be seen at michaeldennispoet.blogspot.ca/rob mclennan is the author of over twenty trade books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction and winner of the John Newlove Poetry Award (2010). He runs above/ground press, Chaudiere Books; The Garneau Review, seventeen seconds: a journal of poetry and poetics; and the Ottawa poetry pdf annual ottawater. He blogs at robmclennan.blogspot.comCatherine Jenkins is originally from Peterborough, where Tourbin was her mentor. Her first poetry collection, blood, love & boomerangs (1999) and her novel Swimming in the Ocean (2002), were published by Insomniac Press. Her work has appeared in many journals in Canada and abroad and she has performed over 75 readings in North America. She recently completed work on her new novel, Pairs & Artichoke Hearts.
2) Launch of a Dennis Tourbin chapbook The Stream and Other Poems Tourbin published ten books of poetry and fiction during his life. To name a few: The Port Dalhousie Stories (Coach House Books, 1987); the poetry books In Hitler’s Window (The Tellem Press, 1991) and Thinking of America (above/ground press, 1995); and The Complete TV Angler (vol. 1 and 2, Penumbra Press, 1995, 1996). In honour of Tourbin the poet, CUAG and above/ground press are co-publishing The Stream and Other Poems, a chapbook featuring “The Stream,” his last poem, as well as other of his unpublished works: the first 50 guests will receive a free copy.
3) Launch of Gallery 101’s “Twice Lightning” International Radio Series SoundCloud project While he was artistic director of Gallery 101 in the mid-1980s, Dennis Tourbin worked with George Young to produce 101’s International Radio series Twice Lightning, a compendium of recordings by sixteen writers/performers collected between 1984-86. Now, "Twice Lightning" is a play list available on SoundCloud, a Berlin-based audio distribution platform that enables its users to upload, record, promote, and share their originally-created sounds.The Twice Lightning playlist was created by Gallery 101 director Laura Margita as a special project in conjunction with the CUAG Tourbin exhibition.
