Transcontinental Divide is a collaboration between two artist-run centres, Gallery 101 in Ottawa, and the Helen Pitt Gallery in Vancouver. The exhibition is conceptually based with 10 artists (5 from BC and 5 from Ottawa) exchanging ideas and collaborating to realize an exhibition in each other’s gallery space. The exhibition fits into the idea of an artist-run centre as a place of experimentation with the ability to support emerging and disparate practice. The exhibition is co-curated by Paul Kajander and Leanne L’Hirondelle. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with The National Arts Centre’s British Columbia Scene, April 21-May 3, 2009, a 13-day festival featuring over 100 different events, musicians, actors, dancers, visual and media artists, writers, acrobats, storytellers and master chefs. Publication Launch: Saturday, May 30 at 2:00 pm
