    Art meets sound therapy. Experience mindfulness, a sound bath, and loving kindness (metta) while working on fiber art/small-scale art. 

     

    What to expect 
    Participants will be able to work on a fiber art/small-scale art project that can be completed while seated, in their laps, while being guided through mindfulness, a sound bath (crystal bowls, ocean drum), and a loving kindness practice. 

     

    What is loving kindness (metta)
    The loving kindness (metta) meditation includes sending intentions of loving kindness to ourselves, our loved ones, and then to others in the community. 

     

    What to bring 

    ● A fiber art project (or other small-scale art) that can be completed while seated, in your lap. 

    Due to the setup of the event, there will be no tables; please bring a compact art project that you can complete while seated, in your lap. 

     

    Arrival 
    Preferred arrival: 2:45pm. 

    We will start on time to respect the meditative environment and time commitment. 

    Participants will be required to fill out a consent form. 

    Please take your shoes off inside the front entrance. You are welcome to bring indoor slippers/footwear. 

    The gallery will be open at 1pm for regular exhibition viewing, and during event setup. 

     

    Masked event 
    Masking is required. KN95 masks will be available for participants at no cost. Should you feel unwell, please take care and stay home.

    Parking 
    There is a free onsite parking lot. Parked cars will be required to display a pass on the dashboard. Upon arrival, please ask for a parking pass.

    Meet the facilitator 
    Dorothy Karanja is a yoga teacher (RYT 500), sound therapy practitioner, and holographic reiki practitioner. In her trauma-informed practice, she focuses on sharing holistic Eastern wellness practices, often in accessible and marginalized spaces. She has been practicing fiber arts since she was a child, and has been knitting for over 30 years.

    A sound bath is a practice where a practitioner plays various instruments to create experiences through the use of sound and vibration. The purpose is to support release and deep rest, engaging the parasympathetic nervous system and brainwaves states to support deep healing.
