We are delighted to announce a special life drawing session facilitated by Lan “Florence” Yee, co-hosted in partnership by the Ottawa Trans Library and Gallery 101.
This trans life drawing session at Gallery 101 seeks to offer a space for trans&queer intimacy amid Lan’s exhibition, Do Weeds Still Grow in Heaven? which considers survivorship as an afterlife. Using the notion of weeds (plants that appear to be thriving in places they are unwanted) as a starting point, Lan’s work reflects on the experience of abuse in queer relationships without the use of graphic imagery of violence.
Lan (they/them) is a visual artist and cultural worker based in Tkaronto/Toronto & Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. They collect text in underappreciated places and ferment it until it is too suspicious to ignore.
The workshop will be held exclusively for the trans community, including non-binary and 2-Spirit people aged 18+
No experience is required.
Some materials will be provided; participants are also welcome to bring their own.
