Yuichi Higashionna is a graduate of the Department of Oil Painting at the Tama University of Fine Art. His paintings and installations — which all deal with the disturbing side of middle class domestic interiors — have been widely exhibited at Japanese galleries and museums, including Gallery NW House, The Floating Gallery, Nadiff Gallery and Setagaya Art Museum. In 2000, his work was seen in the group exhibitions "The J-Way" at the Lydmar Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden, and "Vent d'Est" at Room, in Gentilly, France. This is the artist's first exhibition in Canada.
Thank you to The Nomura Cultural Foundation, Kirin Brewery Company Limited, and The Japan Foundation for sponsoring this show. Also thanks to François Dion for facilitating the project.
